Summary


We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our hard working team. This post is to undertake the FdSC Hearing Aid Dispenser apprenticeship (20 months course in total) at South Devon College. Once the qualification is achieved the successful applicant will be required to work with hearing impaired adults and school age children working to agreed protocols and procedures.

As an Associate Audiologist you will carry out: Otoscopy, Pure Tone Diagnostic or Screening Audiometry and Tympanometry.

As part of the treatment plan, undertake interventions to include:

Taking of aural impressions and modification of ear moulds.

Selecting, programming and evaluating hearing aid systems.

Verifying hearing aid performance and appropriateness of selection.

Evaluating patient performance with hearing aid systems, making modifications according to patients needs.

Undertaking hearing aid reprogramming, maintenance, repairs and adjustments.

Advising on additional assistive technology.

Referring to ENT as appropriate

Upon completion of the FdSC Hearing Aid Dispenser apprenticeship:

Utilise effective communication with patients/clients, their carers, relatives and relevant others.

Perform investigations following recommended procedures including: Otoscopy, Pure Tone Diagnostic or Screening Audiometry and Tympanometry.

Refer onto senior colleagues and services as indicated (eg where more complex issues are identified) with agreement from patients/clients, their carers, relatives and relevant others.

Following protocols, record and report results to patients/clients, their carers, relatives and relevant others and professional colleagues including directly into data management systems.
