Summary

This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.

In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based HR Team.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS (THE CHILDREN’S ACT 1989)

Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).
This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.

BACKGROUND TO THE POST

This, coupled with the continued success of industrial partnerships with national and local land-based companies, has led to an expansion in both the range and provision of land-based programmes.
In our determination to develop further both our service and responsiveness to local, regional and national industry we are seeking an enthusiastic individual to work closely with both the teaching and the work-based teams to develop industrial links, provide training and assessment of students in Healthcare.

The post holder will be a member of the Health & Education Studies Department and report directly to the Head of Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To assess Early Years students in work placement against exam board criteria focussed on occupational competency.
2. To be able to guide and support students to complete their qualification successfully.
3. To be able to mentor individual candidates and monitor their academic and vocational progress, by carrying out formal progress reviews with individuals and their employers.
4. To be able to carry out formal assessments; support the learners with generating evidence and completing all necessary portfolio paperwork, including referencing of evidence and presenting portfolio for internal and external verification.
5. To be responsible for checking the completion of the occupational competencies; to include liaison with tutors on the delivery and completion of the students’ course.
6. To ensure all students are aware of the Health & Safety Guidelines.
7. To ensure student tracking is kept up to date and accurate and work with the course manager and academic staff.
8. Monitor and report on student progress.

OFFERS OF WORK

For the successful candidate a conditional offer of work will be made. Our offer of work will be conditional upon a number of mandatory pre-employment checks, to include but not limited to: DBS, Barred List check, right to work check, internet search, TRA check (academic posts).

Essential Attainments:

✓An Assessor award A1, or equivalent or a willingness to achieve the qualification.
✓ A minimum of a level 3 qualification in a Healthcare discipline.
✓A teaching qualification or the willingness to undertake the Certificate of Education. These qualifications are mandatory for all trainers who teach on a publicly funded provision.
✓Evidence of formal structured training.
✓GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or Level 2 equivalent qualification.
✓An Internal Verification award or a willingness to achieve the qualification

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

✓Current experience Early Years sector
✓Vocational experience of working in industry
✓Experience of working with students and have knowledge of awarding bodies and student monitoring and tracking systems and paperwork.
✓Experience of working with outside agencies and organisations.
✓Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external agencies in a timely manner.
