Summary


We are excited to announce a new opportunity within Northumbria Primary Care (NPC) following a recent period of unprecedented growth in our organisation. As one of the largest providers of Primary Care services in England with a strong track record of excellent patient and staff experience, it is important the growing corporate requirements of our much larger organisation are effectively met.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, experienced, completer finisher with good awareness of NHS services, governance and corporate leadership requirements. The appointed individual will be a key member of the NPC Executive Team coordinating the operations of our organisation on a day to day basis. Oversight of performance, compliance, delivery of strategic objectives and effective delivery of change management processes will be key requirements of the role.

This is an exciting time to join a dynamic, high quality, growing organisation. This role will initially be a 12 month secondment/12 month fixed term contract.

· To ensure the effective management of all core NPC services including coordination of complex programmes of change often with challenging deadlines, workforce leadership, control of contracted resources, compliance with all statutory and mandatory requirements and the safe operation and effective service delivery of primary care services to our patients.

· To act as a member of the Executive team in NPC with accountability for delivery and oversight of NPCs Annual plan of key deliverables. The Deputy Director will effectively deputise for the Managing Director where necessary and have a proven track record of delivering objectives with limited support, high levels of autonomy and take personal accountability for decisions made as an organisation.

· The Deputy Director is accountable to the Managing Director for the provision of leadership, direction, governance and assurance as well as financial control for all services in the company, contributing to and ensuring the delivery of strategic and operational service objectives set by NPC Executive Group, NPC Board and our parent company Board.

Northumbria Primary Care Ltd (NPC) is a pioneering partnership with local GPs and now manages several GP practices with around 50,000 registered patients in Northumberland and North Tyneside.

Appointees will have a nominated base site within NPC as we appreciate continuity and teamwork is vital to effective primary care. As a large multi-site organisation we benefit from offering cross site support and the opportunity to work flexibly across our practices. We also offer evening and weekend working which further enhances flexible working opportunities.

· Directly control and manage pay and non pay budgets across the company ensuring that all budgets are kept within the financial limits set and value for money is obtained throughout.

· Budgets circa £30 million

· Staff circa 550

· Direct line management of Group Management Team, Head of Communications and Finance, Salaried GP Partners/Salaried GPs as required,.

· Liaise with other agencies and participate in service development/issues on a region wide basis.
• Directly control and manage all NPC pay and non-pay budgets ensuring that all budgets are kept within agreed financial limits set and value for money is obtained at all times.
• Management and design of the NPC estate strategy and capital schemes, evaluating quotations and tender returns, oversee commissioning and sign off of capital and minor works and undertaking post project evaluations.
• Monitor the quality of any contracted-In/out services ensuring performance, compliance and value for money at all times.
• The ability to motivate staff and create multi-disciplined cohesive teams.
• Accountable officer for compliance with governance, assurance, performance and finance objectives as directed by the Managing Director, NPC Exec Team and NPC Board
