Summary

A Vacancy at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

It’s all about #TeamED here & we’re really proud of this.

Our patients and their families come to us in emergencies & at their most scared so we want you there with them, right by their side, supporting them with your empathetic qualities & calm nature. We need the best and most flexible people to provide support to our nursing teams in our Emergency Departments and we make no apologies for that.

Not everyone can handle working in our Emergency Department as it really does test your resilience, we can deal with things that are truly upsetting. However, we know there are those who thrive on working in an area that tests their resilience, ignites their passion and where full steam ahead is the only speed.

We have two amazing Emergency Departments, Preston & Chorley, with one amazing #TeamED vision. Staff flex across both locations, learning loads of new skills along the way. You will work on a rota including nights at the Preston site giving even more of an ED experience. We can promise you it’s definitely not going to be dull!

Please send across your Maths and English Grade C and above and your NVQ2 in Healthcare to recruit.medicine@lthtr.nhs.uk

You’ll work alongside Advanced Nurse Clinicians, Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Consultants, Trauma Technicians as well as our fabulous Senior nursing team and Senior Healthcare Assistants who support us all the way. When you start you’re assigned a mentor who will work alongside you for the first couple of weeks and we get loads of positive feedback about this.

We’re a forward thinking team with a real emphasis on staff development and training – we have our own educator who works across both sites. Our teams provide training on a variety of topics to ensure you are always on top of your game and up-to-speed with the very latest tools to help you do the job you love. The relationship between our staff is second to none which is why we work so well as a team

Your previous care experience will be what sets you apart from the rest and will have given you all the basic skills you need to build upon in this role. The Role in ED is challenging and its like no other HCA role in the trust. Its hard work but very rewarding and the team value the contribution and support from the HCA team. Your support to our nursing and medical teams as they work tirelessly to treat the patients in our care cannot be under-estimated. They will be relying on you every step of the way. You will help change lives.

We have 10000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done. You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.

You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care and enhancing their experience which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.

Duties' include, but are not limited to:
• Provide holistic care to all patients that attend the Emergency department
• Support the Medical and Nursing team in delivering care
• Complete clear and concise documentation for every attendance
• Maintain infection control within the department including stocking and general tidiness and cleanliness of all areas
• Attend training in order to maintain own training record
• Provide patients with nutrition and hydration
• Support in the maintaining of patient personal care

12 hour shifts are our norm and the feedback we get from our fab team members is that they really value the work life balance these shifts bring when not at the forefront of emergency patient care.
