Summary

Kingston GP Chambers the GP federation which supports twenty member GP practices across the borough of Kingston are delighted to be supporting Brunswick Surgery in the recruitment of a new practice nurse. Brunswick are a forward thinking and progressive surgery with a well-established and talented workforce. The surgery was inspected in December 2022 and subsequently reviewed in July 2023 having achieved a good rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The practice work hard to ensure an excellent level of patient care is delivered to almost 9,000 registered patients. The surgery is based in the modern and purpose built Surbiton Health Centre, which is well served by local transport links and has the local high street in close proximity. The surgery have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled nurse to join and provide their expertise to the clinical team. The nursing team currently consists of three Nurses who are ably supported by three Health Care Assistants. This role is open to newly qualified nurses as well as those wishing to move across from secondary care into general practice and already qualified practice nurses. Overall Job Responsibilities: Deliver a high standard of patient care using high level autonomous clinical skills and a broad and in-depth theoretical knowledge base Deal with presenting patients needs in a primary care setting. Responding effectively to patient need and ensuring patient choice and ease of access to services. Promote healthy lifestyles and participate in national immunisation and screening programmes. Enable patients to manage their long term health care needs and to achieve their full potential in terms of independent living. Actively encourage and facilitate choices for patients by providing health promotion during routine screening procedures e.g: new patient health checks, cervical cytology and long term conditions management. Communicate complex information to patients and relatives where needed with a variety of diverse needs, using negotiation and persuasive skills to motivate. Work with nursing, medical and health care assistant colleagues to ensure the National Service Frameworks are being delivered. Clinical Responsibilities: Undertake clinical duties with relevant training in some or all of the areas: Adult and paediatric immunisations Smears Management of chronic conditions Dressings/stitch removal Phlebotomy Vaccinations Person Specification: Essential Registered General Nurse (Currently registered with the NMC) Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice. Ability to assess and manage patient risk effectively and safely Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team Able to build effective working relationships at all levels IT skills with the use of EMIS highly desirable Time management skills This role represents a great opportunity for those wishing to move into primary care. We are ideally looking for the successful post-holder to commit to working a minimum of one day per week, however more hours are available.
