Summary

This is a high-level senior leadership role that oversees the strategic direction, delivery, and performance of the EUCS team and is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of workplace technology services that meet the changing needs of all MoJ business areas 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. The role reports directly to the Justice Digital Director of Technology who in turn reports to the Chief Digital and Information Officer.

The Deputy Director, Head of End User Compute Services is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of workplace technology services that meet the changing needs of all MoJ business areas.

Services include:

Provision of laptops, desktops and associated management and support services for over 85,000 staff across over 1100 sites.
Provision of laptops and associated management and support services for over 12000 devices used by prisoners as part of the Launchpad service
Printers and scanners including bulk print services
Office Productivity and Collaboration services, such as Email, Teams, and SharePoint.
These services are critical to the effective day-to-day operation of the Ministry of Justice.

Responsibilities

As Deputy Director, Head of End User Compute Services, you will:

Leadership & Strategy

Lead, motivate and develop a team of around 200 professionals across multiple locations, building a progressive and inclusive culture that has customer focus at its core.
Develop a compelling vision, strategy and transformation roadmap for End User Compute Services, to ensure that services meet the evolving needs of our users.
Ensure this vision and strategy is aligned to the wider Justice Digital strategy and roadmap.
Provide visible leadership for End User Compute professionals, role model positive behaviours and professional excellence.
Communicate key messages, drive communities and provide a voice for the function, inspiring and creating a team that individuals feel proud to be a part of.
Work as part of the Technology Services Leadership team to set strategy and direction, create a shared sense of purpose, and ensure that collectively we are achieving our overarching goals.
Service and Technology Transformation

Build an understanding of flexible working trends, emerging technologies and delivery methods to inform the change agenda for End User Compute services.
Work with business partners and other colleagues to prioritise change, both incremental and transformational, within available funding.
Take responsibility for the delivery of change, using agile delivery methodologies and a proportionate approach to risk to deliver at pace.
Develop and deliver service roadmaps for all End User Compute services.
Ensure End User Compute services perform to agreed standards.
Implement appropriate tooling and processes to effectively manage End User Compute services, working proactively to prevent problems, and quickly identifying and rectifying problems where they do occur.
Financial and Commercial Management

Manage a budget of £150m+, prioritising spend to deliver value for money, and continuously seeking opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies.
Secure additional funding as required for the delivery of change to the services through effective demonstration of both return on investment and wider benefits.
Work with colleagues to ensure the performance and risk of existing suppliers and contracts is robustly managed.
Develop good working relationships with existing and future suppliers, setting the direction for the future commercial strategy for infrastructure services.
Line management

Line management of 6 Grade 6 leaders, each of which manage a deeply specialised area that impacts all users of Justice Digital Services.

The combined End User Compute teams have around 120 staff currently and are predicted to grow to around 200 as we deliver our in-sourcing agenda over the next 12 months.
