Summary
The Fen’s is an innovative and challenging service for individuals with chronic histories of trauma who are located in a male high-risk prison.
Our treatment draws on attachment theory and incorporates sensorimotor psychotherapy and schema focused therapy, along with a range of short-term interventions such as EMDR, CBT, CAT etc. Through a combination of individual and group therapies, patients are given opportunities to heal from trauma and neglect, improve wellbeing and reduce risk.
We will support you in broadening your therapeutic skills, management, and working to achieve organisational change in a complex system. There are opportunities to further your research interests through our links with Universities.
The role is a permanent, full-time position with scope to complete some work from home .
You will join our diverse clinical team with a rich range of clinical and forensic experience.

To provide a qualified applied specialist (clinical, forensic or counselling) psychological assessment, treatment and outreach service to service users managed on the OPD Pathway but specifically those for whom responsibility belongs with Fens Services.
To work in collaboration with HMPPS operational Fens staff on all aspects of Fens psychological therapies.
To contribute to and supervise (where appropriate) psychological assessments and work alongside other clinical members of the team who provide psychologically-based care and treatment.
To deliver and support other Psychologists/Psychotherapists and clinical team members in the delivery of psychological therapy to service users within the OPDP Fens service.
To provide specialist teaching and consultancy to the clinical and operational teams.
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of both the Trust’s and OPDP Fens Services policies and procedures.
To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research, and to propose and implement policy changes within the OPDP Fens Service.

To take an active role in the screening and assessment of prisoners referred as potentially being suitable for OPDP Fens Services based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including neuropsychological and specialist psychological tests, including interviews and communication with other agencies such as probation, healthcare and operational staff.
To communicate the results of this screening and assessment to other members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team including non-clinical staff using the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills.
To communicate using the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills, the results of assessment and formulation to service users within the Fens services and those included in the offender’s care and treatment pathway.
To develop psychological formulations, for residents discharged from the main Fens treatment programme but who require aftercare/Outreach services with a view to directing the level of care and intervention needed to assist in management of their psychological distress and risk reduction and to enable them to relocate within another treatment service if appropriate.
To attend Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and contribute to discussions about the formal psychological individual treatment and/or management of a service user’s mental health problems and risk, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of these problems. These meetings may be within or external to the residential service and will include liaison with other professionals.
