Summary
Coats Recruitment are looking for 2 permanent CNC Setter / operator on either Sliding heads or Fixed Head. We are looking for someone familiar with Fanuc controls
Sliding Heads - The successful candidate will set up and operate sliding head lathes, currently we have a range of Citizen and Star machines. This is a full-time role.
CNC Fixed Heads - The successful candidate will set up and operate CNC Fixed head machines. Currently we have a range of Doosan, Nakamura, Citizen and DMG Mori machines. This is a full-time role.
Detailed Daily Tasks
Read drawings and job travelers to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up and operating requirements.
Locate and download programs from our server storage.
Identify, select, and install correct tooling for operations being performed.
Calculate proper feeds and speeds for a variety of stainless-steel grades and exotic materials.
Read, understand and where necessary edit CNC programs, on Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls system.
Understand applicable quality systems and perform necessary quality inspections.
Apply principles of Lean Manufacturing to reduced setup times and improve productivity.
Visually inspects final components.
Uses precision measuring instruments and gauging devices.
Properly identify components after assembly/manufacture.
Seek out and identify Continuous Improvement opportunities.
Create and maintain a team focused work environment.
Responsible for general housekeeping and cleanliness of working area.
Support “Best Practices” to achieve company goals for safety, delivery, cost and quality.
Skills and Experience
Requires in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Ability to read complex engineering drawings.
Be time served in a machining discipline.
Have a relevant Health and Safety awareness.
Previous experience in a similar industry is preferable (specialist fasteners/exotic materials).
Experience working with various machine control systems, including Fanuc and Mitsubishi.
Must be self-motivated and possess facilitation skills to be used in a team setting.
Prior experience with precision inspection equipment including, but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, height gauges and bore gauges.
Proven ability to hold tight machining tolerances.

Qualifications:
GCSE’s (or equivalent)
Apprentice trained (desirable)
HNC in Engineering (desirable)

Pay (same rate for both sliding heads and fixed heads, higher rate for more capable candidates that can program):
Setter and operator - £15 p/h + 15% shift allowance (Hourly rate can be negotiated depending on experience)
