As a Mental Health Nurse working within the team at Heathrow IRC you will work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options. You will undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed. You will assess patients health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge. You will ensure that you assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody so that any appropriate referral can be made. You will also be responsible for making a clinical judgement with regard to any immediate need and long term treatment. Heathrow Immigration Removal Centre is a detentions centre located next to Heathrow Airport in Harmondsworth, London Borough of Hillingdon. It is the largest immigration removal centre in Europe, with a capacity of 965 residents mainly adult males and some adult female detainees.
