JOB TITLE: HR Adviser REPORTS TO: HR Manager LENGTH: Permanent contract HOURS: 37.5 hours per week LOCATION: Site based at Unit 16/18, 8 Hornsey St, London N7 8EG SALARY: £33,000- £37,000 per annum based on experience About Islington GP Federation Islington GP Federation (IGPF) is a growing organisation representing 31 practices; we have established ourselves as a leader in new ways of working, including running Islingtons extended access primary care services (I:HUB) as well as supporting the Islington Primary Care Networks (PCNs). Our current range of services include the Extended Access Service, I:HUB, Community Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Integrated Community Gynaecology, practice-based pharmacists and a range of practice support mechanisms. IGPF works very closely with a range of partners including the regional commissioning group, NHS England, Healthy London Partnership, Public Health, local hospitals such as UCLH , Whittington Health and the London Borough of Islington. IGPF is the host organisation for the Primary Care Network (PCN) workforce and the Islington Training Hub, and has been working for over two years to create training and development programmes that meet the needs of staff working in primary and community care settings. IGPF runs two Islington GP practices on caretaking contracts; a third practice will be taken on within this financial quarter. Job Summary: The HR Adviser will work closely with management team, including senior management and all IGPF staff to deliver high-quality HR services. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have a strong attention to detail, and be adept at problem-solving. The post-holder will have superb customer service skills, administration skills and self-motivation. The post holder will handle written and verbal queries always maintaining confidentiality. Responsibilities may include but not be limited to: Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in line with best practice and legal requirements provide guidance and support to line managers and employees on HR issues, including recruitment and selection, performance management and employee relations manage the end-to-end recruitment process and create and maintain accurate HR records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations The post holder will have good experience in HR administration, proficient in I.T skills and be able to deal with a variety of responsibilities, work well under pressure, be able to use their own initiative and keep calm in tense situations. The post holder will be approachable, fair, have good multi-tasking skills and be able to attend training sessions if needed. With support, they will also be responsible for delivering training sessions for managers and employees on HR processes and policies. The post holder will recruit, support and develop talent through developing policies and procedures. Job Responsibilities: Recruitment & Selection: Supporting and assisting the development of a robust, high quality, fair and impartial recruitment service Create accurate and compelling job descriptions and Job adverts to attract candidates Managing the hiring process, checking Right to Work information and compliance documents. Contacting applicants references and performing DBS checks. Drawing up plans for future employment hiring procedures and goals. Build strong relationships at all levels to influence and engage candidates. Ensure the process of onboarding the employee is smooth and efficient. Ensure the induction process for new employees is of high quality. IT Have a working knowledge of all office based software and hardware, including MS Teams. Be fully proficient in HR and Mandatory training software solutions implemented at IGPF. Administration: Maintaining an up-to-date HR database, ensuring accurate employee information is captured and subsequently updated. Computer / data entry and session allocation with particular attention to rota software. Undertaking a wide range of administrative duties which include ensuring all information is managed correctly, filed and followed up accordingly. Supporting IGPF services in achieving full compliance in line with NHS and CQC requirements. Absence Management: Monitor and maintain thorough, up-to-date records of employee absences. Communicate with employees about absence management and procedures. Employee Relation (ER) cases: Providing advice and guidance on employee relations issues. Support management in disciplinary, grievance issues and redundancy processes. Payroll: Prepare & process monthly payrolls through liaising with the payroll manager. Produce a variety of reports, including those pertaining to sick leave, overtime, and unpaid leave. Manage the maternity leave application process and coordinate with payroll to ensure proper payment of benefits. Provide guidance and support to new mothers regarding their maternity pay & annual leave entitlements. Policy: Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations. Provide counselling on policies procedures. Ensure all staff across IGPF have access to existing and updated HR policies and procedures. Training: Support in conducting training and development programs to improve the skills and performance of employees. Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems. Developing training and development programs. Personal/Professional Development: The post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the Federation as part of this employment, such training to include: Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development. Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work. The post-holder will: o Apply IGPF policies, standards and guidance o Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect own work. o Participate in audit where appropriate.
