We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic senior Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS ) to our Colorectal Nursing team within the surgical division . You will need to have a background in cancer nursing and be keen to innovate, lead, and improve services .

The post is a permanent Macmillan CNS post and the post holder will manage the team of band 6 CNS and cancer support workers . The role will work closely with the Trust Personalised Care Lead Nurse focusing on driving the personalised care agenda and service improvements .

The band 7 role will work collaboratively with another band 7 in an 18 months fixed contract to provide the best possible experience for people with colorectal cancer pre and post diagnosis

Acts as clinical expert and role model demonstrating high standards of quality care and providing clinical leadership to others. As clinical expert lead the development of clinical nursing services within the field, implementing national cancer initiatives at a local level contributing towards strategic decision making and implementing policies appropriate to the speciality.

Acting as key worker the CNS will use and apply advanced technical knowledge of cancer and treatment within the speciality to oversee and co-ordinate services, personalise the pathway of care for individual patients to ensure the complex information and support needs of patients and families are addressed.

Leads by example and delivers specialist education and training to other professionals involved in patient care, promoting best practice and supporting less experienced colleagues and non cancer specialist to achieve high quality personalised core for people living with cancer
