As a Senior BA within DWP Digital you will lead business analysis activities across a number of teams or a complex area of work in the delivery of service improvements.

Payments are core to DWP. We are the biggest payer in the UK, serving 20m citizens which is 34% of the total UK population and make circa £177bn in payments annually generating 1/3 of the UK’s BACS traffic.

Our payment modernisation will see Digital Payments Services continue to develop a common payment service which will become the single source of truth for all citizen payment and bank account information, to be consumed by other business areas to unlock value and mitigate risk across the department.

You will use your Agile experience, translating business and user needs into deliverables working collaboratively to define and achieve value outcomes.

You will work with senior business and project stakeholders and will facilitate the setting of project priorities in line with strategic and business goals.

You will be a leading figure within the BA community and will play an instrumental role in our active & dynamic Community of Practice.

You will be encouraged to continually grow your management capabilities and will support colleagues to take responsibility for their own learning and development in line with business needs and strategic direction.

As a Senior BA working within DWP Digital these are some of the things you will be doing: 

  • You will work on large, complex products or services, or across a number of products or services simultaneously.
  • You will lead workshops, interviews and focus groups to effectively understand business problems and user needs within large complex products or services. 
  • You will communicate effectively across senior technical and business stakeholders, ensuring the understanding of requirements and acceptance criteria is aligned.  
  • You will understand the business processes and activities that impact and that are impacted by the product or service whilst developing an understanding of how the product or service aligns with the wider strategy of the department.  
  • You will lead BA activities and initiatives and will champion continual learning & development within the BA community.  
  • You will be a leading member of the BA community, taking on leadership and line management responsibilities of BA’s. Additionally, you will play a significant role in capability building and recruitment when required.
  • You will encourage and promote Agile methodologies, setting standards across the function and working to educate the BA teams working across the functions on Agile principles, methods, and tools to support their development.
  • Experience of working within the payments or banking sector to lead on business analysis to support large scale change and making key decisions would be beneficial when starting the role but is not essential.
