Summary


We have an exciting opportunities for a Junior Clinical Fellows to join our a Neonatal team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital fromSeptember 2024 to March 2025to fill a HEE gap in our Neonatal department.

Please be advised our out of training doctors are paid on the 2002 agreement not the 2016 contract.

Owing to the short turnaround and nature of the gap we can only consider candidate who have existing right to work in the UK, we will not be sponsoring for this post.

Who are we?

We are a busy neonatal unit and one of the two lead perinatal centres in the N.W London Perinatal Network and also the designated neonatal surgical referral unit for the sector.

Our critical care project is a state-of-the-art expansion and redevelopment of our adult and neonatal intensive care facilities at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. We have been working with our charity CW+ and a range of partners to design world-class intensive care units with optimal healing environments for patients and their families.

It will allow us to treat more critically babies every year, in world-class facilities which will benefit patients and their families. This is one of our biggest redevelopments to date and it will significantly increase the future capacity in these areas, allowing for the treatment of more patients every year in state-of-the-art facilities.

We offer comprehensive neonatal training with emphasis on surgical neonates, multidisciplinary gastro-nutrition care and neuro-developmental outcomes of high risk babies. Our unit has a busy high – risk obstetric service, we deliver and stabilise cardiac babies prior to transfer to the Royal Brompton Hospital and have 24 hour all - level paediatric surgical and Anaesthetics cover for the unit.

We provide services from two main hospitals, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital, and a number of clinics across London and the South-East. We are currently spending £30 million on expanding our adult and neonatal critical care facilities at Chelsea and Westminster and redevelopment of our children’s unit at West Middlesex – in partnership with our charity, CW+ and generous donors.
• Operational management of NICU under direct supervision of consultant neonatologists
• Daily consultant ward rounds and a weekly nutrition ward round with paediatric gastroenterologists
• Lead ward round and clinical decision making once a week on the registrar led ward round
• Overseeing documentation and progress of discharge summaries
• Support of SHOs in the assessment and management of acutely ill and postnatal ward neonates.
• Attendance at the weekly grand round with neonatal and paediatric surgical consultants
• Weekly liaison meeting with NICU staff and social services
• Weekly perinatal grand round with all obstetricians and neonatologists
• Liaison with neonatal surgical team and anaesthetists, paediatric cardiology and respiratory teams
• Involvement in neonatal medical and neurodevelopmental follow-up clinics
• Participate in neonatal transport (when not performed by NTS)
• Provide high quality care to patients:
• Maintain GMC registration and hold a licence to practice
• Develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties of the post
• Ensure families are involved in decisions about care and respond to their views
