Summary

Our Study skills team is looking to recruit a number of ambitious and hard-working people to provide study skills and academic support to help students achieve their full potential. You will support students in developing their Literacy and numeracy skills, as well as supporting with their vocational or occupational skills development.

This role would be suited to an A Level/Level 3 educated school leaver, though we welcome all appropriate applications.

Our Study Plus team offer one-to-one or group support with:
• English and maths GCSE and functional skills development
• Exam practise papers and controlled assessments
• Understanding an assignment brief
• Referencing & Proof reading
• Revision skills

You will assist in the planning and delivery of the StudyPlus service to students. You will be working with students in small groups and on a 1-2-1 basis to develop effective exam, revision, and assessment techniques, as well as supporting with the development of English and Maths skills, in preparation for exams. Duties will include supporting students to develop their independence and resilience, including supporting to plan and complete coursework and develop revision techniques for their exams.

You will have achieved relevant GCSEs including Grade 6+ English and Maths and relevant A Level qualification (or similar Level 3 qualifications.)

You must be confident to support others to develop their skills in these areas.
• You will have used a variety of learning platforms and be a confident user of applications and technology.
• You will have the ability to apply your own experience of using resources to help our students develop their skills.
• You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work with a wide range of students, to motivate and support them in a positive and encouraging manner to achieve the best they can be.


Candidates are required to complete a diagnostic English and Maths skills assessment to assess current English and Maths ability.

Candidates will be willing to work towards a Level 3 Award in Education and Training to develop their support, planning and pedagogical skills. This is funded by and facilitated at the College.

The study skills team deliver a cross college service and therefore the post holder will be based at either of our Watford, Hemel campus or New Bedford Road campuses with occasional work at the other campuses as and when required. You will work 37 hours per week plus occasional Saturday work to support Open Days.
