Pay Rate: £12.59 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 8am to 4pm
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 7-8 months
City: Nuneaton, Warwickshire
To undertake repairs to the Council’s housing stock, including Bricklaying, roofing and carpentry. Utilise skills in a variety of trades to complete repairs at first visit.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend appointments promptly and provide tenants with information and updates on work that is being undertaken.
Ensure that steps are taken to keep dust and dirt to a minimum within tenanted properties and that properties are left in an acceptable condition on completion of work.
Ensure that all safe systems of work and risk assessments are followed.
Maintain van stock as required, to assist with repairs being completed at first visit whenever possible.
Promptly record outcome of visit on the housing management system, providing detailed notes and ensuring that start and finish time are accurately recorded.
Work to reduce the number of ‘no access’ visits by taking all necessary action, such as calling tenants when property is empty when visit is attempted.
Respond to requests from the Repairs Contact Centre to attend emergency appointments.
Work closely with other teams in the housing service to ensure that information is shared regarding tenancy matters, including hoarding and properties in poor condition.
Maintain tools and equipment to the required standard.

Qualifications:
GCSE Maths and English or equivalent written and verbal communication skills.
A trade relevant qualification (nationally recognised qualifications such as City & Guilds, NVQ and ACS) or a background in 3 or more trades.
Working knowledge of relevant COSHH and HSE legislation.
A valid licence to drive in the UK.
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector.
Experience working in resident’s homes and communicating with residents.
Labouring experience.
Experience in some trade work such as Bricklaying, roofing, Carpentry.
Health and safety legislation knowledge.
Agreement to participate in the out of hours call out service.
Experience and ability to work in a customer facing role.
