Job Summary: Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone Main Responsibilities: To ensure that patients and visitors are greeted courteously and are dealt with in an efficient and friendly manner at all times To book patients in on arrival To make computer appointments both at the front desk and over the telephone To take requests for home visits and enter details onto computer in accordance with Practice Visits policy To act as a point of call for all enquiries from patients and respond to any requests for assistance To enter details of new patient registrations onto the computer To assist doctors in surgery with ad hoc requests (i.e. make hospital appt on behalf of patient) To enter details of new patient registrations onto EMIS To receipt all payments received at front desk in respect of payments for travel vaccinations etc To carry out data entry for repeat prescriptions as and when required To pull medical records in preparation for doctors surgeries and nurses clinics To return medical records to file and file all incoming correspondence To ensure that waiting room areas are kept tidy To develop good working relationships with both internal and external contacts
