Summary
Service Delivery Manager - Digital Governance
Birmingham or Leeds - Hybrid
Your new role
As the Delivery Manager in the Digital Governance team in National Highways, you will administer the digital, data and technology investment approval process. You will play a key role in the Digital Demand Process, ensuring that there is a clear audit trail on all investment decisions.
You will work with your team to ensure meetings are scheduled, that agendas, meeting packs, minutes and action logs are produced, that meeting outcomes and decisions are noted in relevant IT systems, and that investment reports are completed within agreed timescales.
Your role will include close liaison with senior managers, team leaders and other stakeholders across the business, providing guidance on the investment approval process to project teams, and on best practice in business case production and presentation. This will include quality reviews of business case submissions, ensuring that standards are met prior to entry into the investment approval process.
The role can be based at our Birmingham or Leeds office, and it will involve the management of up to two junior members of staff. You may occasionally be asked to travel to other office locations for meetings.
What you’ll be leading on
Administration of the digital, data and technology investment approval process within National Highways, including the scheduling of assurance and investment decision committee meetings, and the production of the agenda, meeting pack, minutes, and action logs for those meetings;
Maintenance of a clear audit trail of investment decisions, including updating relevant IT systems with decisions and caveats, the production and issuing of Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) Letters and Delegation Letters to staff; and the production of monthly reports listing the investment decisions of the directorate;
Providing guidance to colleagues on the governance elements of the Digital Demand Process, including the provision and maintenance of guidance on the Intranet, such as process maps and other supporting advice notes; and the management of the team inbox to agreed SLAs;
Review of business cases and other artefacts, to confirm they meet agreed quality standards before they enter the investment approval process;
Line-management and ongoing development of junior staff within the team to support the delivery of the work.
To be successful
Experience within a portfolio, programme or project office environment, ideally with involvement in governance, business case production or appraisal;
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan own and team’s workload, and process high volumes of documentation and correspondence;
Evidence of partnership working with a collaborative approach, working with a wide range of stakeholders to offer guidance and resolve issues;
Excellent communication skills to convey complex information to different stakeholder groups;
Good analytical and presentation skills, with experience of using that information in reporting, and to influence decision making.
