Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Ultrasound team as a Sonography Practice Educator at the NEL Ultrasound Training Academy, hosted at Barts Health on the Whipps Cross Hospital site.
The role will primarily entail working alongside fellow Practice Educators within the academy to oversee and deliver multiprofessional education and training to any learner accessing the facility. The NEL Ultrasound Training Academy is fully equipped with two ultrasound machines within dedicated scan rooms with flexible appointment times and simulation equipment.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and motivated autonomous Ultrasound Practitioner who possesses a high level of technical competence, substantial post qualification experience and excellent communication skills who can provide clinical and academic leadership in ultrasound education across NEL.
The role requires the successful candidate to ensure suitable training programmes are available by evaluating current provision and developing an improved and inclusive clinical learning environment for our students to support current and future workforce needs. The post holder will accomplish this by working closely with the Education and Training Lead Sonographer, Ultrasound Professional Lead and Education Academy team across Barts Health and the Imaging/Ultrasound Clinical Leads across the NEL Imaging Network.
The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner with advanced ultrasound experience who can provide clinical and academic leadership in ultrasound education within the NEL Ultrasound Training Academy and NHS Trusts across NEL as required. The role will primarily entail working alongside fellow Sonography Practice Educators to oversee and deliver training and education to any student’s, radiologists, or sonographers requiring upskilling accessing the NEL Ultrasound Training Academy, hosted at Barts Health on the Whipps Cross Hospital site.
The post holder will undertake both clinical (70%) and administrative (30%) duties and will assist in the co-ordination, management and allocation of staff in training within Diagnostic Imaging and other satellite sites as appropriate (e.g. obstetrics). They will be the first line coordinators and lines of communication with universities and other course providers. They will work closely and liaise frequently with the NMAHP Education Leads, Director of AHP’s and Ultrasound Clinical Leads to deliver staff training and identify new training opportunities.
The post-holder will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team in Imaging, liaising with those involved to ensure the appropriate ultrasound imaging, reporting and management of the patient is provided within local and national waiting time directives.
