Job Title: Exam Invigilator

Location: Near Attleborough, Norfolk

Reports to: Exams Officer/Headteacher

Job Purpose: The Exam Invigilator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and fair conduct of examinations within the school. Responsible for maintaining examination conditions, upholding examination regulations, and providing support to students, the Exam Invigilator helps create an environment conducive to academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Exam Preparation:

Assist with the setting up of examination venue near Attleborough, Norfolk, ensuring they are laid out correctly and all necessary materials are provided.
Verify the identity of students and distribute exam papers in accordance with established procedures.
Ensure all necessary equipment and materials are available and in working order.

During Examinations:

Supervise students during examinations, maintaining a calm and orderly atmosphere.
Enforce examination regulations rigorously, ensuring fairness and integrity throughout the process.
Respond promptly to any irregularities or issues that arise during exams, following established procedures for reporting.

Post-Exam Duties:

Collect completed exam papers and ensure they are securely stored or dispatched as required.
Assist with the packing away of examination materials and the tidying of examination venues.
Report any incidents or concerns to the Exams Officer or relevant authority.

Additional Responsibilities:

Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay informed about examination procedures and regulations.
Maintain confidentiality at all times regarding exam materials, student information, and any sensitive matters related to examinations.
Perform any other duties related to the role as assigned by the Exams Officer or Headteacher.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and to deal effectively with unexpected situations.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding standards of fairness and integrity.
- Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to adhere to strict schedules and deadlines.
- Flexibility to work variable hours depending on the exam schedule.
- Previous experience in a similar role or working with young people in an educational setting may be advantageous but is not always required.

Working Conditions: The role may involve sitting or standing for extended periods and may require the ability to move around the examination venue to monitor students effectively. Flexible working hours are typical, with exams often taking place in the mornings and afternoons, depending on the school's schedule.
