Summary
Peripatetic role based in Hull
Grade: Teacher - MPS/UPS + SEN allowance depending on mandatory qualification
The Vision Support Team forms part of Hull City Council’s Integrated Physical and Sensory Service (IPaSS). We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Children and Young People with Vision Impairment (QTVI) to start as soon as possible. You will need to be flexible, hard-working and able to work under direction, as well as on your own initiative.
The role is peripatetic and is to work with children and young people with vision impairment (0-25 years) across the city to promote independence and ensure access to education and wider life. You will support children and young people and their families in homes, early years settings, mainstream, and post 16 settings.
Our team is person-centred, creative, and committed to high quality support for young people. This is a rare opportunity to join a small and supportive specialist team.
In addition to being a Qualified Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you will be expected to have extensive classroom experience. You will be committed to inclusion and making a difference to pupil outcomes. You will also appreciate the importance of teamwork within a peripatetic service and be able to show evidence of supporting colleagues and building strong working relationships with service users and outside agencies.
Applications from qualified teachers willing and able to undertake fully funded mandatory QTVI training will also be considered, particularly if you have knowledge of the wider field of special educational needs and preferably hold the SENDCo qualification.
This role is peripatetic, and you must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle. You will be expected to work in a variety of different locations across the city during the working day.
We look forward to hearing from you!
