Summary


Are you a well organised individual with a extensive working knowledge of orthopaedic procedures .

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust are looking for a experienced, dynamic individual to join the Theatre Team at our World renowned, accredited orthopaedic hub site at Wrightington to support the unit leads, preop, admissions staff and consultants by over seeing the smooth running of the theatre list.

To coordinate all aspects of theatre list planning to ensure the effective and efficient utilisation of allocated theatre sessions. To be responsible for the delivery of key performance outcomes, which include theatre and financial efficiency and utilisation. Support of the Theatre Team leader who is responsible on a continuous basis for their designated area within the theatre department. Provide professional clinical leadership, guidance, expert advice and managerial skills to ensure the delivery of a clinically effective service in line with local and national development plans, Trust policies and procedures including Infection Control.

To support the team leaders and staff within the theatre department team, including IPR, production of duty rotas, recruitment, selection and supervision of students and learners. Carry out formal and informal teaching and optimise opportunities to cascade knowledge and skills.

Line management of the Scores Team, supporting and developing the team enabling them to grow to meet the evolving needs of the service, ensuring efficient and effective use of all resources.

To act as an ambassador for the theatre departments and the trust in professional and public arenas.

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.

To assume a lead role in theatre scheduling aligning capacity with demand and recognizing the resource implications.

To liaise on a weekly basis with Team leaders regards theatre listings, to include patient specific information and equipment requirements.

To adopt, implement and ensure compliance to the Local Safety Standard for Operating List Scheduling

To liaise with elective admissions department, medical secretaries, Anaesthetic department, performance managers and Consultants regards listings.

To review the theatre application tool on a regular basis to track and monitor booked sessions against actual usage of sessions, to allow theatres to make the best use of staff and theatres capacity and review theatre utilisation and flag where improvements in efficiency can be made.

To initiate and appropriately manage the execution of Trust/Departmental policies and practices as required, e.g. allocation of return to work interviews following sickness/absence, timesheet authorization, legal matters etc.

To ensure all return to work interviews are conducted as identified within the Trust’s Attendance Management Policy.

To ensure the dissemination of relevant information to own team.

To ensure the band 7 senior team leaders have all current and up to date information as required.

To communicate, record and authorise any request for periods of absence.

To ensure documentation is completed and inform line managers of any changes in staffing or workload.

To act as arbitrator as required.

In conjunction with theatre team Leaders makes decisions re: the prioritisation of available resources, and respond with appropriate staffing levels required as per theatre session scheduled.
