Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college situated in York. We have a brilliant BIAZA zoological facility which opens to guests on weekends and school holidays. During the week we are open for school visits and Wildlife programmes.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Instructor Keeper to join our Animal Management Department here at our York campus. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is capable of working with others and is responsible, passionate and knowledgeable about the overall animal management sector and has an enthusiastic approach to animal husbandry and welfare. The candidate will be passionate about training the next generation of animal carers, scientists and conservationists.
The instructor part of the post will require you to work with a range of species within the animal department and deliver practical modules to Level 2 and 3 learners including assessments. However, we are looking for someone with a special interest in LVI and in particular (Native Invertebrates/Chelonia) to join our animal keeping team.
This is a full-time permanent role working 37 hours a week including one weekend day.
Applicants should be educated to at least a level 3 in an animal related subject, and a degree in an animal related subject would be advantageous but not essential as experience will also be considered. In return you will receive a generous holiday allowance, ample free parking, canteen facilitates and a range of employee benefits. We offer a pleasant, safe and friendly environment to work within a wonderful, likeminded team.
Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
For more information, please refer to the job description and personal specification.
