Summary

Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted rated "Good" primary school in Widnes as they require motivated and reliable teaching assistants to support pupils in key stage 1 with Austic Spectrum Disorders/Conditions. This is a full-time long-term contract that will last until the end of the academic year.

Your new role
As a Teaching Assistant within this school, you will be supporting a student in Key Stage 1 with Autism. You will support the students inside and outside the classroom, ensuring that all activities and learning material are presented in an inclusive, accessible manner for their needs. In the classroom, you will support them on a 1:1 basis, aid with communication and breaking down learning materials as well as effectively identify trigger points. You will also assist with their behaviour by using positive behaviour techniques, deescalation and distraction. You will work alongside the class teacher and other staff members, including SENCO, as to ensure the pupils' EHCP is met.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered with your application, you need full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as previous referenceable experience working with children and young people with SEN in a professional or voluntary capacity, as well as:

  • Experience working with Autistic Spectrum Disorders
  • The ability to take a person centred approach to education
  • Be willing to learn
