Summary
To complete a work based pre-registration midwifery apprenticeship programme delivered by an Approved Education Institute (AEI). Maintaining the Standards set out in the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC, 2009) in order to obtain a Registered Midwifery Apprenticeship qualification. Apprentices will work in a supported learning environment to develop their skills, competencies and knowledge, which will assist the apprentice to complete their qualification and progress in their career and future employment with Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, securing a position as a Registered Midwife. Apprentices will work in all clinical settings, and receive placements with our acute hospital partners during their training programme. They will acquire clinical skills during their placements and working on non-training days as part of our multi-disciplinary teams within the community. They will acquire clinical skills relevant to the banding at which they are working and deliver independent care to our patients under the supervision of our qualified staff and mentors.
