Summary
Vacancy for a Nursery Cook
Do you have a passion for cooking healthy and nutritious home cooked meals? Are you a good organiser and able to plan and prepare food for little mouths?
We are looking to appoint a part time cook from mid-July 2024 to work Monday to Friday approx 8.30am -1.00 pm in our busy nursery. This is a permanent post working 23 hours per week.
Experience of cooking for large numbers is essential. A catering qualification and a food hygiene certificate would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.
You will also be responsible for the nursery food shopping so use of a vehicle would be an advantage.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Managing a budget and be responsible for the weekly shopping
• Planning a healthy, nutritious and varied menu for babies and children 0-5 years
• To have an understanding of weaning and children’s dietary needs
• To plan and meet the individual needs and prepare alternative meals for children with differing dietary, religious or weaning needs.
• To follow food hygiene and safety practices at all times, working within the ‘Safer Food Better Business’ guidelines
• To undertake food safety training if applicable
• To work alongside children’s parents /carers, nursery management and staff as a team
• To have a friendly, caring, hygienic and professional approach to your work
