Summary
we will be working on the following aspects preparing your child for the formal learning and structure of a school environment.
• Developing your child’s social skills to cope with “Big” outside world.
• Teaching your child basic numbers, and letters.
• Teaching your child the phonetic sounds of letters.
• Allowing your child to develop their confidence and identity.
• Giving your child a sound base of learning from which they can develop and grow.
• To be independent with their own personal hygiene needs i.e. toilet trained and can manage to wash and dry their hands before eating and after toileting. ( We feel it is important to encourage your children to start learning how to wipe their own bottoms and manage their hygiene independently. This will help them develop important life skills and gain independence. Regular practice and gentle guidance can support them in this important aspect of their personal care routine before starting school).
• To manage changing independently.
• To have the listening skills to follow simple instructions like tidy up and what’s happening ‘now & next’.
• To be able to recognise their name.
• Giving your child the privileged opportunity to have learnt through play.
The successful applicant will need to hold a recognised, full and relevant early years and childcare qualification at Level 3 or above (such as NVQ Level 3 Diploma for The Children and Young People's Workforce, or equivalent qualification). You will have gained experience in an early years setting, have high regard for our confidentiality policy, have a positive attitude and work well as part of a team.
In addition, you will need to be adaptable and productive, with the commitment to provide first class childcare. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
This post requires DBS check and two satisfactory references prior to the commencement of employment.
