Summary
Job Description
Working in our Ipswich based timber and landscaping merchants, assisting with the maintenance and running of storage yards and related facilities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• manually loading and unloading materials
• operating mechanical loading/unloading equipment
• preparing materials for customer collections/deliveries
• dealing with trade and retail customers
• keeping accurate records of the receipt and issue of stores items.
• Prompt turnaround of our own vehicles
• Provide excellent customer service, assisting customers promptly and efficiently
• Keeping the yard clean and tidy, including perimeter checks as necessary
• Check incoming goods against supplier’s delivery notes
• Assign materials to the proper yard location
• Record all materials leaving the yard
• Unload and load incoming and outgoing vehicles
• Maintain and merchandise the yard stock
• Be willing to perform any duties as may be deemed necessary or as may be required by the Company
• Operating fork lift trucks
• Carry out daily FLT and lorry checks
Skills and Qualities:
• Good communication skills
• Counterbalance lift truck licence/Fork lift experience of working in a similar role
• Brick grab and/or hook attachment Hiab licence
• Good knowledge of our service area
• A knowledge of good practice relating to Health and Safety Regulations
• Being methodical and organised and able to work on own initiative
• Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
• Ability to maintain simple records
• Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform work required
• All candidates should be able to work in a team
• A valid driving licence and driver CPC if applicable
Hours:
• 90 hour Fortnight, split over 2 consecutive weeks, 42.5 and 47.5 hours
• Full-time, Permanent
• Mon-Fri 7:30am - 4:30pm
Saturday 8:00am – 1:00pm (alternate weekends)
Salary:
• Negotiable, depending on experience
Experience:
• Customer service: 2 years (preferred)
• Timber and landscaping: 2 years (preferred)
