Summary

Always had a passion for working with children and young people but don’t have any experience in Social Care?

Hertfordshire County Council has developed an Academy programme as the first step in your journey into social care.

Our programme is designed to offer to give you the foundation blocks needed, to become an excellent childcare worker to enable our children and young people to achieve all they can.

This is an intensive 6-month programme with access to specialist training, you will have the opportunity to undertake work placements in two different homes within the service working with our most vulnerable and traumatised young people whilst receiving a high level of support and training.

The role will entail working with challenging behaviour, supporting young people to access education, and undertaking activities with the young people, there is so much more to the role that you need to experience it to believe it.

In return we will offer you the opportunity to further your career through accessing further training opportunities such as the Diploma Level 4 or Social Work qualification.

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be assigned to 1 home permanently and your salary will increase to £25,545 per annum plus market enhancement.

Whilst no specific skills or experience in social care is required, your passion and commitment to learn is essential for working with our children and young people.

Additionally, the ability to drive and have regular access to a car is desirable but not essential if you are currently undertaking your driving test.
