Summary

Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

About the role

“We are currently seeking to recruit a full-time Electrician to join our multi discipline maintenance team at Hunterston A site. As a member of the team, you will mainly carry out routine preventative maintenance, small installations, and repairs, within an industrial and commercial electrical environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to progress within a unique industry dedicated to operational excellence. We are keen to hear from Electricians who are interested in working in an environment where safety is our focus.

Please note the contractual hours for this role are 07.30 - 17.15 Monday - Thursday, perfect for someone looking for a four-day working week.

Key Responsibilities:

Carrying out pre-planned and reactive maintenance on electrical assets including commercial offices, motors, transformers, switchgear, drives and LV plant.
Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely and within environmental parameters of the power station.
Completion of safety documents (i.e., risk assessments).
Fault finding and diagnosis of plant.
Follow written work instructions for maintenance tasks.
Be willing to work within contaminated areas, wearing full face mask.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings would be advantageous.
On occasion there will be a requirement to work at height.
Qualifications and Experience:

Time served electrician to SVQ level 3 (essential).
Industrial electrical experience (desirable).
18th Edition (BS7671:2018) (desirable).
Experience of working in the Nuclear Industry (desirable).
Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Be determined to succeed with a positive “Can-Do” attitude.
Understanding of health and safety and permit to work, work environment.
Please note within NRS this role is known as Maintenance Technician Electrical.

Flexible working – where possible.
The equivalent of 25 days (185 hours per year) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year). This increases by 2 days (14.8 hours per year) annual leave after two full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year) , and an additional 3 days (22.2 hours per year) annual leave after five full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year). You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year). For the purpose of assessing an employee’s annual leave entitlement, a day means seven and two fifths (7.4) hours. A pro rata entitlement will apply for part time workers.

There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based. For central/multi-site roles, we have various hubs across the UK and can be flexible with base location.
