Summary


We have opportunities for Band 3 Phlebotomists - we are looking for enthusiastic, proactive, self-motivated hard working team players with a keen attention to detail to join our very busy, friendly phlebotomy teams at West Herts Training Hospital. There are part time post available across Hemel Hempstead and St Albans Hospitals.

You will need to be flexible in your approach to work a 7 day essential service, morning, afternoon, weekend and bank holiday shifts. A good standard of written and spoken English is essential.

Good communication skills are an integral part of this role as there is a need to liaise with Doctors, nurses, colleagues GP’s and other health care professionals.

The post requires you to work across the 3 hospital sites as required , as well as cover community clinics, GP surgery’s and domiciliary visits once you are proficient, and deemed competent by the Phlebotomy Manager - so this is the job for you if you enjoy moving around and not being in one place from one day to another!

Experience is preferable but not essential as full training will be given.

The post holder must have experience of phlebotomy and be able to contribute to a quality blood collection service. The post holder will be required to work independently, liaise with other healthcare professionals, clinicians, laboratory staff, patients and/or their representatives.

This may be in a hospital, GP surgery, outreach clinic and/or a patient’s home. The post holders must observe the policies and procedures relevant to the role. The work involves routinely handling biological samples that may contain pathogenic micro-organisms. All patient categories including high risk and isolation patients are included in the job requirements.

There is a need for some shift and weekend work that necessitates a flexible approach to the hours and site of employment. Once deemed competent these is a rotational pattern for bank holidays and weekends.
