We are inviting applications for a fixed- term Band 8a Practitioner Psychologist role until March 2025. The role currently works with patients with long covid, but we are excited to consider how the model may work for other conditions, so this role may evolve over the next few months to include patients with other long-term conditions with a similar symptom burden.

The service currently offers 1:1 and group interventions and app -based self- management support to patients from Lambeth and Southwark. The post holder will work in both community and hospital sites and will receive professional supervision via the Trust Head of Psychology. Whilst the funding for the post is full- time, we would be happy to hear from people who wish to work more flexibly.

We are seeking an experienced practitioner who can respond flexibly to individual need. You should have experience working with people with complex physical needs and applicants qualified in the delivery of EMDR will be welcome. You should be able to offer psychological assessment and evidence-based treatment using established theoretical models and will be responsible for the provision and development of the psychological therapy service from a clinical, professional and operational perspective. The post holder will work collaboratively with the MDT to provide education, support and guidance and will lead and participate in quality improvement activities.

To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality, safe and highly Specialist Psychology Service for Long Covid.

To work autonomously developing pathways for psychology across community, hospital, ICU, IAPT and primary care and the wider directorate engaging with multidisciplinary teams within and across services and directorate when appropriate.

To work within a stepped-care model managing demand for clinical service within long covid and reporting and making recommendations regarding service provision.

To develop and deliver group and individual therapy and also consider using technology to enhance engagement built in an effective and cost-effective model of care.

To offer psychological assessment and formulation led and evidence-based treatment to patients presenting with long covid symptoms and associated difficulties.

Is required to provide supervision of trainee clinical psychologists and junior staff inter and multidisciplinary if required.
