Summary

We are delighted to be supporting our client, a large, well-established, and financially secure manufacturing focused organisation, in recruiting for a full time Multi Skilled Engineer.

Working in a shift pattern you will be responsible for delivering planned maintenance and repair schedules to achieve maximum equipment availability.

Inspections and preventive / planned maintenance:

• Check and assess the condition of handling equipment, pneumatic and/or mechanical/electrical, reception and silo installations, grinding, mixing and pressing lines, bag filling, feed and / or fertilizer, bulk loading and weighbridges, on the basis of maintenance schedules and checklists.
• Restore (imminent) defects and perform corrective maintenance activities arising from inspections (according to schedule)
• Signal to the superior any potential flaws with details of the nature and severity, proposes solutions to avoid (future or recurring) problems with the functioning of (parts) of equipment / machinery / transport systems.
• Order/ polls spare parts and materials for maintenance.
• Work on planned maintenance activities of more extensive and / or complex nature (i.e. during maintenance stops), and you may be required to supervise technicians of third parties.

Malfunctions and defects / repairs:

• Troubleshoot malfunctions and defect in equipment, machinery, measuring and control systems and other parts of the installation
• Assess the nature and extent of the problem and determine whether instant repair is necessary or possible, assess any fault causes and potential solutions
• Perform emergency repairs, disassembles (parts of) equipment / machinery and make necessary repairs / changes to the equipment, if necessary in consultation with the supervisor
• Perform more extensive repairs at scheduled times and based on prepared planning and instructions (disassembly / assembly, parts replacement, set / adjust parts)
• Work with colleagues within jobs of more extensive and / or complex nature.
• May supervise technicians of third parties.

Modifications and improvements:

• Carry out modifications and overhaul work based on work orders and / or instructions from supervisor
• Propose improvements in equipment, machinery and other areas based on expertise and experience within maintenance
• Consult with management on quality issues, technical issues / problems, etc.
• Order to (re) make certain components from drawings
• May perform various techniques (welding, lathe and plate work, machining)

Reporting:

• Log all maintenance activities in the appropriate maintenance management systems in order to have a complete administration and insight in the state and history of all equipment, files all technical data

Compliance:

• Work in compliance with all relevant safety regulations and procedures (work permits, LoTo, etc.), as well as technical standards
• Signal potential hazardous and / or unsafe situations, takes appropriate action is case of imminent unsafe situations.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Qualified time served apprenticeship trained Multi-Skilled Engineer with an Electrical bias and strong mechanical and fabrication skills, minimum NVQ level 3, ONC, HNC, HND or equivalent desirable.
• Track record of delivering sustainable improvements across multiple areas including Safety, PPM, Waste Reduction and Plant performance within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
• Experience of working within classified hazardous areas and ATEX equipment, CompEx Ex 05 – 06 or equivalent qualification a distinct advantage
• Experience in food mills or similar manufacturing industries on automated raw material feed systems, auto weighing, bagging lines, LEV, packaging and palletising equipment a distinct advantage.
• Proven track record working at a competent level of expertise on PLC’s, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• 18th edition IEE wiring regulations certificate preferable
• Must be self-motivated, have a can-do attitude to take ownership of issues, deliver sustainable improvements and be an effective team player with the ability to communicate across all functions within business
• Previous training / skills in Fabrication, Welding, FLT, IPAF, PASMA, IOSH, WAH, NEBOSH, Confined Space and Abrasive Wheels a distinct advantage
• Able to work as an individual and part of a wider team
• Able to quickly react to issues and prioritise tasks based on situational circumstances
• Willing to work a 3-shift flexible pattern (Seasonality applicable)
• Able to work overtime when required including additional hours and weekend working
• Must think outside of the box and be able to communicate and deliver whilst under pressure
