Summary


Due to the expansion and development of the Gastroenterology service we are able to offer an exciting opportunity to recruit Advanced Clinical Practitioners to establish a dedicated ACP team to the service.

We are looking for dedicated, motivated and experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioners to support the delivery of our Gastroenterology services, develop our cancer pathways in Upper GI, Pancreas & NSS. Support improvements of our inpatient pathways and the development of a virtual ward service, specialist clinics as well as support the Endoscopy service with improved patient admission pathways.

You will be joining a forward thinking, innovative and dedicated team where patient experience and excellence in care is our priority. The Gastroenterology/Endoscopy service has recently undergone a transformation with expansion of the department so it is an exciting time to join the team.

We are a JAG accredited Unit, undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Capsule Endoscopy, ERCP, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, EUS. Therapeutic and Palliative stenting, inpatient services with a 24 hour, 7 day a week GI bleed service.

Successful candidates will play an essential role in the development and future growth of the Gastroenterology & Endoscopy services, you will be supported by senior clinicians, specialist nursing teams and the wider division. Your expertise will be invaluable in cancer pathway transformation, ensuring efficiency of fast track triage of patients in Upper GI, pancreatic and NSS pathways. Supporting MDT decisions and outcomes, patient clinics to optimise treatments as well as dedicated sessions for research and personal development.

The successful candidate will clinically support the dedicated gastroenterology ward, present patients at board rounds to senior clinicians and consultants. And support the introduction of the Gastro virtual ward to streamline inpatient services, optimise patient care and reduce length of stay.

Your expert advanced clinical expertise and decision making will support a safer direct admission pathway from Emergency Department/Endoscopy Unit to the Gastroenterology ward, provide clear clinical assessment and plan of treatment & optimising ward cover.

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner role will be a rotational programme throughout all the varying specialities within the service, providing safe, senior clinical decision making and expert care. Working collaboratively with the wider team.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. The post-holder will be responsible for clinical triage across cancer pathways.

Leading on pathway improvement work including reviewing straight-to-test models, expediting clinical triage and streamlining the faster diagnosis pathways in line with the Faster Diagnosis Framework and Best Practice Timed Pathway guidance, where available.

Order necessary investigations and provide treatment and care both individually, as part of a team, and through referral to other agencies.

Support the establishment, embedding and success of a Gastroenterology Virtual ward, providing clinical expertise and decision making to prevent admissions into the hospital setting. To collaborate effectively with the wider teams and improving patient outcomes.

Support and establish inpatient pathways

Refer patients to other health care providers as appropriate.
