Summary

We are looking for a band 7 Specialist Neurophysiological Scientist (registered Clinical Scientist) to join a team with passion, enthusiasm, commitment and a forward-thinking and progressive attitude towards all things Neurophysiology. We aim to provide a wide range of opportunities to develop both professionally and personally within a supportive and nurturing environment.

The successful candidate would be expected to work across all areas of the department but will have a special interest and expertise in peripheral neurophysiology (upper and lower limb nerve conduction studies). The successful candidate will be expected to carry out upper limb nerve conduction clinics (median nerve entrapment at the wrist and ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow) and peripheral neuropathy screening clinics (generalised axonal neuropathies such as those caused by diabetes) independently, including writing provisional reports that will be countersigned by Consultant Scientists.

Experience in all EEG modalities is essential. Experience in intraoperative spinal cord monitoring and multiple sleep latency testing will be a bonus. The department currently has a 24/7 on call service which requires competency in cerebral function monitoring but training for this, and any other procedures the candidate is unfamiliar with, will be provided,

Regular self-directed CPD sessions will be allocated. There are regular department CPD and interesting case meetings plus access to adult and paediatric neurology MDT.
