We’re fully committed to being an inclusive employer and ensuring equal opportunities for everyone. We welcome flexible working patterns, including job share.

If you’re part of the Environment Agency, you’re part of the solution. Working with us means protecting and improving the environment and tackling issues of national importance. We’re based across England, and our responsibilities span industry regulation, flood defences, land contamination, water quality, fisheries and conservation.

Such broad scope of work calls for diverse, multi-skilled teams. Together, we’ll promote sustainable growth, tackle climate change and secure a better future for everyone.

As a Senior Estates Surveyor, you’ll work collaboratively within project teams as you help to deliver a nationwide £5.4 billion programme of capital flood defence work, including compensation negotiations, land acquisition, and access rights. Your expertise will be applied to manage a diverse land and property portfolio. Extending to 25000ha of commercial and rural property your experience will include property management, valuation and dealing with landlord and tenant issues. As a successful and confident negotiator, you’ll represent our interests with a broad client base.

You’ll hold a portfolio of complex cases whilst supporting others through the proactive sharing of up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and best practice. You’ll join the Hub leadership team, which helps to manage delivery and reputational risks across England, and while much work is delivered in-house, some projects will require you to work with our suppliers through framework contracts.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate. Please see the candidate pack for more on how you will support with this.

The Estates service extends to 125 people, offering professional support for Environment Agency land, property, compensation and valuation matters. We are core to the delivery of the Agency's £5.2 billion capital programme to better protect 336,000 homes. Our experienced teams specialise in negotiating access, dealing with compensation claims from land/property owners where they have suffered loss as a consequence of our work.
