Summary


Here at St George's Emergency Department we are excited to be recruiting for are newly formed Mental Health Support Worker team.

The post holder will be part of the imbeddedEmergency Department (ED)Mental Health team at St George’s hospital. The team are based in the emergency department and have close links with South West London St George’s psychiatric liaison team as well as other third sector services. You will work across all areas of the department supporting in resus, majors and children's ED.

The post holder will work as part of the new specialist Mental Health Pathway in ED supporting the nursing and medical team to help those with serious mental illness who access ED at point of crisis or via the police or ambulance service.

This is a post that will require the post holder to collaboratively support the management of service users in crisis presenting to the ED department at St George’s Hospital.

The post holder will have experience of enhanced observations, active engagement/ management in crisis situations as well as de-escalation techniques and will have worked in teams that support individuals at the point of crisis or with increased risks.

The post of Support Worker will apply a strength based approach to work collaboratively with service users, ED ward team and psychiatric liaison teams.
