About the Role

Exciting opportunities have arisen for experienced individuals to join our Community Safety team as Control Centre Operators. These are full time, permanent positions within Swale Borough Council’s busy Community Safety Control Centre. These posts will require working 12-hour shifts on a rotational shift pattern including some weekends and Bank Holidays.

Swale Borough Council’s Control Centre operates 24/7 365 days a year monitoring our in-house
Public Space CCTV, Partnership & Commercial Contracts. Key duties of the role include:

• Observing incidents and providing information and assistance to the Police and members of the Swale Link Business Crime Reduction Partnership.
• Maintaining the security of the Control Centre, only permitting access to those authorised and maintaining access logs.
• To monitor and deal with, in accordance with agreed procedures, out of hours calls for the Council.

These are full time positions being offered on permanent contracts.

There are two shift patterns available, both of which operate on a four on, four off working pattern:

• Rotating days and nights 6:00-18:00 and 18:00-6:00
(nighttime shifts only may be considered)
OR
• 14:00-2:00

About You

To fill the requirements of the post, you must have previous experience of working in a Control Centre or Public Space CCTV Environment. You need good IT and Communication Skills with the ability to work under pressure and independently using your initiative to deal with straight forward problems. The ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with potentially distressing incidents is essential.

A DBS Check and Kent Police Vetting is required for this post. You must also hold, or be prepared to achieve, a Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licence.

Selection Process
