Summary

• Work Pattern: Day shifts.
• Reporting to: The Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer and they hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations).

Introduction:

This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage her support and meet her care needs independently. A young person is seeking a caring female to join her team of carers (this is claimed under the exemption Equality Act 2020 section 21), lovingly named ‘gems’. This team supports the person to live life to the fullest. Due to cerebral palsy, she needs help with day-to-day tasks. The Gems provide support to enable independence and fun experiences.


The main duties to be included within this role are:
• Provide quality and dignified care
• Support with meal times
• Assist with personal care
• Support with some household tasks
• Use safe manual handling techniques using equipment provided
• Support the person out of the home and in the community
• Administering medications
• All training provided.
• Ensuring her safety at all times during your working hours
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should she need medical assistance

The client is looking for a personal assistant that fits the following person specification:
• Previous experience desirable but no formal qualifications necessary
• Caring and patient
• Responsible and honest
• Proactive and self-motivated
• Has good local knowledge
• Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
• Good communicator
• Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship

Other Requirements:
A valid driving licence and use of a car is required to get to work. You may be required to drive the mobility vehicle.

Benefits:
5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata)
Sick pay at SSP rate
Training provided, if required.
