Summary

About the Employer

I am the employer and also the service user accessing the direct payment to access care and support within my home. My Wife also has a disability and direct payment, some of support around the home will be inter linked/combined to support both I have a diagnosis of Dementia which impacts on my memory and ability to manage day to day tasks without prompt and support. I reside at home with my wife who is also in ill health and have good family network around me. I am seeking 2 PA's to join my team for an initial 20 contracted hours each. The PA roles will be to support me within my home with prompts and support with some personal care tasks, cooking and preparing meals, preferable with one meal per day associated to my culture (traditional Indian meal) The role will entail my PAs with morning and evening routines, domestic duties and tasks within the home and offering companionship. The PA will be required to engage me in activities within the home to help stimulate and encourage my participation in things such as board games, small duties around the home with assistance and occasional walks to get me out and about for some much-required exercise. The PA’s will be an integral part of my family and day to day life at home and as such would be beneficial if they were able to speak Punjabi, to better help with communication KNOW THE HEIMICH MANEUVER UNDERSTANDING OF A DEMENTIA PATIENT

About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting,
showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
• Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
• Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
• Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
• Cooking and preparing meals – at least one traditional Indian meal per day.
•Household duties- tidying, cleaning, bed changes, washing and drying of clothes.
•Prompts for me to maintain my personal care and personal care assistance at
times if required.

The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

When you are Required:

Hours per Week: 20 hours per week with additional hours available Seeking 2 x PA’s Hours 8am-1pm / 4pm to 9pm Mon – Sun (split /shifts or Rota across the week) Night shift 8pm to 8am Mon – Sun (split /shifts or Rota across the week) Sessions to be arranged week by week

• Monday, 8am -1pm & 4pm-9pm
• Tuesday, 8am -1pm & 4pm-9pm
• Wednesday, 8am -1pm & 4pm-9pm
• Thursday, 8am -1pm & 4pm-9pm
• Friday, 8am -1pm & 4pm-9pm
• Saturday, 8am -1pm & 4pm-9pm
• Sunday, 8am -1pm & 4pm-9pm

This position will require:
