Summary
Cancer is a major strategic area of UCLH and UCL with a focus on developing novel pathway-directed therapies. There is an excellent infrastructure allowing clinical trials to be linked with basic science, facilitating targeting of specific molecular abnormalities in cancers with therapeutics. UCL is both an Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre and a Cancer Research UK Centre, and the NIHR UCLH Clinical Research Facility (http://www.uclhospitals.brc.nihr.ac.uk/crf/national-institute-health-researchwellcome-uclh-clinical-research-facility) is supported by the NIHR and Cancer Research UK. There are close links between the CRF and the UCL Cancer Institute (http://www.ucl.ac.uk/cancer/) providing excellent opportunities for translational research projects linked to drug development.
This full-time, fixed-term post will be for a period of 12 months from August 2024. Eligibility for full GMC Registration is essential and possession of MRCP or equivalent is necessary. Specialist training in haematology or oncology and competency in prescribing chemotherapy is required, experience in clinical trial work is desirable.
The aim of this position is to offer comprehensive specialist training in all aspects of early phase Haem-Oncology clinical trials including protocol development, regulatory procedures, associated translational research projects and presentation of research at meetings
