We are really excited to be able to offer this 12-month pilot post opportunity to an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapistas either a fixed term contract or secondment.

We recognise that understanding and responding to the speech, language and communication needs of our patients plays an incredibly important role in the assessment and treatment of the individuals that we work with in mental health services. For that reason, we are looking to recruit an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our medium and low-secure mental health inpatient services to help us develop our offer in this area.

While the successful candidate will be expected to provide some hands-on clinical work with patients, service development will be a key part of the role. The successful candidate will be expected to scope the clinical need for Speech and Language Therapy input in each of these services, provide consultation and support for staffing teams, develop and implement training and evidence the outcomes of speech and language therapy input within the services.

We think that this could be a really exciting opportunity for someone to come in and help design and shape the therapeutic offer within these services and they are really enthusiastic at the prospect of having Speech and Language Therapy input.

The Trevor Gibbens Unit is a 66 bedded medium secure service in Maidstone, providing mental health assessment and treatment to both men and women. The successful applicant would be expected to work across these two services, however, there is flexibility as to how their time is split.
