Summary


Each Care Group is led and overseen by a Managing Director reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.

Each Care Group will oversee a range of services and have a clear leadership structure working to the Managing Director. The senior leadership team for each of the Care Groups are also responsible for the day to day running of each of the hospitals, Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother, Margate, William Harvey Hospital, Ashford and Kent and Canterbury, Canterbury.

The Care Groups work collaboratively across the Trust and the local and sector systems for the purposes for continually improving the care for our patients and those who use the service.

The predominant responsibilities of the role will be to lead the development of the Care Groups, ensuring that the intended outcomes for quality, performance, finance, workforce, transformation and collaborative system working are delivered.

To provide clinical leadership to ward managers in balancing the challenges of providing safe services with excellent outcomes and in a way that delivers efficiencies and meets the expectations of patients and the public.

To provide clinical leadership to ward managers in delivering person-centred, safe and effective care and develop the leadership capability of others. To maintain a highly visible presence as a role model to staff, patients and visitors by working a minimum of 50% time in clinical practice, this can be through face to face complaints management, hands on patient care or part of ward-based rounds for example.

To hold professional accountability for patient safety and effective care with a particular focus on the strategic priorities of handover of care, preventable venous thromboembolic events, practice errors, catheter associated UTIs, falls with harm, pressure ulcers and sepsis.
