The successful applicant must meet the entry requirements for the Therapeutic Radiographer Degree Apprenticeship (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography and Imaging at Sheffield Hallam University. This is a 3-year course funded by the Apprenticeship Levy Scheme.

On completion of training and HCPC registration, they will progress onto a substantive Band 5 Therapeutic Radiographer post with the Trust.If there is failure of the course, there may be a termination of contract with the Trust.

During training, the post holder will receive clinical training in the Radiotherapy Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. They will be released for study for 7.5 hours per week on-line learning and there will be some requirement to attend academic training at Sheffield Hallam University. Expenses will be reimbursed by the Trust, in line with policy.

The post holder will be paid under Agenda for Change Annex 21 (Band 5).
• Can be any age post full-time education (16+)
• Cannot already be on an Apprenticeship or any Government funded training,
• Cannot have a qualification at the same or higher level in the same vocational area. There needs to be significant new learning.
• Has been a UK resident for 3 or more years.

• To carry out all aspects of Radiotherapy treatment in line with the requirements of the Radiotherapy Services Manager.
• To work alongside other professional groups to develop site specific techniques to improve the quality of care for patients receiving radiotherapy in this department
• Ensure the needs of the patient are identified and met.

The department consists of 3 Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators; a Gulmay Unit and a Canon wide bore CT scanner with radiographer-led palliative virtual simulation using Eclipse.

We are planning to extend the SABR service to include bone and nodes soon.

We have an active Clinical Trials department and participate in most major trials.
