Summary
Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
The role
As a Mechanical Fitter within our Technical Maintenance team you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary.
Day to day, you'll be responsible for investigating and diagnosing faults, repairing and maintaining the mechanical aspects of all heating, ventilation and water facilities within HMS Drake. Reporting to the Senior Maintenance technician, you will be an important member of a vibrant and highly regarded team.
Your Duties will include
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance and fitting on a variety of mechanical systems
- Defect identification and repair
-Typical systems worked on will include - Heating and Ventilation, Pumps, boilers, Generators and pool systems as well as pressure systems and other mechanical equipment and plant
-Repairing Helpdesk defects , including minor domestic plumbing defects.
-After a suitable acquaintance period, taking on the duties of on-call Engineer. This duty attracts a shift standby/overtime allowance
Essential experience of the Mechanical Fitter
-Proven experience in mechanical fitting or maintenance gained within an Industrial or Commercial environment
-Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
-Works in a safe manner - able to understand statements of work, risk assessments etc
-Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces on occasion
Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter
- Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship, qualified to Level 3 or equivalent (NVQ3, City & Guilds, HNC etc)(Essential)
Gas Safe Qualification, Domestic and Commercial or willing to work toward the same. (Desired)
Unvented Hot Water cylinder certificate. Or willing to work toward the same.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC level security clearance level for this role.
