What is the Role?

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Multi Skilled Craft apprenticeship fitting programme within the Distribution business in South Uist and Isle of Islay

These are operational field based roles, which mean you will be required to work outside in all weathers at all times of day and night as you will be an integral part of the team who ensure electricity supplies are maintained.

The Multi skilled Craft Apprenticeship is an exciting and extremely varied role, which may include inspecting and maintaining the low voltage/high voltage electricity equipment in your power station or making a repair to the low/high voltage equipment providing the supply to a whole town. You will be gaining invaluable mechanical reasoning and problem-solving skills and will use your hand skills to practically maintain, install and repair the equipment.

The programme will be completed over 3 years and is in two parts. The first part is academic study of approximately 18 months. During this time, you will be in residential attendance at Fife College where you will learn about Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, including an award in Performing Engineering Operations (PEO).

The second stage will be work-based learning with training linked directly to the job and implementing the academic study learned at college into daily working practice. By the end of the programme, you'll have gained valuable on-the job experience, learned new skills and gained an industry recognised qualification. This will enable you to have the opportunity to build a rewarding and successful career in the energy sector and contributing to the delivery of NETZERO.

As an apprentice you will attend Fife college during the first 18 months which will involve time away from home. You should be prepared to live away from home for extended periods of time. There will be opportunities for travel home during this time, however due the distance and time involved this may be limited during term holidays. You will be fully supported during this time with travel and accommodation being provided.
