Job Role
As a 1-2-1 Mentor, you will provide a bespoke Mentoring programme in partnership with schools and social care to help children/young people overcome challenges with behaviour, attendance, confidence and mental health. Using a strengths-based approach will enable you to build on their existing inner resources to overcome barriers/obstacles and develop their personal goals to create a vision of their desired future.
As a skilled and experienced mentor, you will be matched to work alongside a child/young person, and you will devise a programme which is tailor-made to suit the needs of the individual to meet the outcomes set by the referrer. As a mentor, you will play an intrinsic part in the planning, preparing and delivering of learning activities and you will be required to send progress and development reports to the referrer after each session.
Mentoring can be delivered either in a school environment or at our safe and friendly centre with rooms to suit all ages. All rooms are equipped with sensory and Thrive activities and designed to give children a quiet space to explore their emotions and to learn effectively and creatively. We are lucky enough to have a wonderful and peaceful outdoor space to play or just reflect.
Main Duties
Working with vulnerable Children and young people
To manage a caseload of approximately 5 - 10 children/young people who require 1-1 support in their learning, and social and personal development.
To provide structured 1-1 mentoring support in line with their individualised mentoring programme.
To ensure safe working practice and that the wellbeing needs of the child/young person are taken into account in all activities.
To work positively and maintain professional relationships with Parents/Carers to promote learning and development opportunities for the child/young person.
Collaborating with partners
To collaborate with referrers and other agencies to promote best possible outcomes for children and young people.
To contribute to meetings and progress reviews.
To ensure confidentially and adhere to data protection guidelines and maintaining professional relationships.
To be proactive in exploring additional services and educational opportunities that would benefit the child/young person.
General responsibilities
To promote the values of 1-2-1 Mentors Ltd at all times
To demonstrate best practice in equal opportunities and valuing diversity.
To maintain accurate records for safeguarding and monitoring systems purposes
To promote and encourage the participation and empowerment of children and young people
To represent 1-2-1 Mentors at external meetings as required by the Manager
To undertake any other duties within the scope of the role
