Airfield Support
RAF Brize Norton OX18 3LX
Permanent, Full Time
Salary of £31,500.00 plus benefits

Serco at RAF Brize Norton are looking to recruit an Airfield support role within their Airfield Support Team working within the Digital Support Flight. You will be helping to assist with airfield support tasks. We are looking for someone ideally with a mathematical or engineering background.

Here at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, Serco has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Airforce, providing air transport and air-to-air refueling to the RAF fleet, you will contribute enormously to the vital work carried out at this sire. You will also be part of the wider team, with 5,800 service personnel, 1,200 contractors and 300 civil servants on site.

Main Accountabilities:


- Control, fault finding and minor rectification of Management Radio Equipment masts and antennas, including liaison with the Air Battlespace Spectrum Management Team, Air Radio Reserve and associated equipment Delivery Teams.
- Station and Dependant Unit frequency management; maintain and update frequency allocations.
- Air Traffic Management Equipment Technical Safeguarding
- Participation in Siting Board Meetings including close liaison with the Explosives Safety Representative regards Hazard of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance
- Electromagnetic Radiation Safety.
- Radiation Hazard Safety.
- Crash plan communications including cordon communications.
- Air Traffic Management (ATM) Equipment Network faults including Point to Point Services and ATC Direct Dial Voice Telephony Lines.
- Input into the Airfield Business Continuity Plan(s) including Airfield Recovery Plan.
- Support the provision of deployable Public Address (PA) systems.
- Building Custodian (management) of radio equipment buildings & facilities.
- Assisting and collaborating with the Air Cyberspace Services Centre


What you’ll need to do the role:


- Ability to perform mathematical calculations including Gradient (Slope) of a Straight Line expressed as a Ratio. Desirable, but not essential.
- The ability to interpret Regulation, Policy and Guidance
- Electrical/communication equipment fault-finding/rectification skills
- The ability to successfully implement and apply MoD legislation
- Education of GCSES is desirable
