The Newham therapy team is innovative, creative and friendly, working closely with colleagues from other disciplines to deliver high quality patient centred care.

We now have an opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our motivated and dynamic therapy team at Newham University Hospital. Staff will join the Band 6 rotations, which run for 9 months and include:
• Respiratory - including Tracheostomy management, Surgery, Cardiology, ICU and HDU, and Outpatient Bronchiectasis clinic
• Elective Orthopaedics and day surgery in the leading Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre (BHOC)
• Elective Orthopaedics and Bone & Joint Health Research
• Musculoskeletal Outpatients
• Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedic combined rotation
• Stroke and Neurosciences
• Older Peoples services with both acute and rehab therapy
• Acute Assessment Unit

To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients served by the Acute & Outpatient Therapy Teams contributing to weekend and on-call service provision.

Our band 6 development programme includes:
• Regular clinical training across sites, tailored to band 6 physiotherapists
• Simulation training to develop crisis resource management
• Advanced tracheostomy training
• Access to a vast choice of courses through the Barts Health Leadership Academy. These include ILM level 3 courses
• HR training to be able to competently use policies and procedure

This training and development along with a structured supervision and appraisal programme led by our enthusiastic band 7 and 8 senior staff, allows our band 6 staff to develop the skills to become strong band 7 candidates. We also offer a research specific orthopaedic rotation allowing clinicians to gain experience in research design and delivery. This rotation provides access to a comprehensive academic teaching programme at Queen Mary University London, the opportunity to deliver NIHR research studies and the skills to develop a research proposal which can be supported should the clinician wish to apply for clinical-academic fellowships.

You will need relevant clinical post registration experience of delivering physiotherapy assessment and treatment intervention within the acute hospital setting, and state registration through the Health Care Professions Council.
