Summary


Goldman Sachs Centre for Urgent Care (CUC) is seeking an enthusiastic receptionist to join their team. This post is vital to the smooth running of CUC. You will work in a busy environment, providing a reception service for patients and relatives. As a member of a mulit-disciplinary team, you should possess excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and organisational skills. Keyboard/IT skills are essential and hospital experience is desirable. The hours are 18.75 hours across the working week.

The purpose of the unit is to provide a safe space for certain elective procedure to be performed in addition to providing an area for patients to be reviewed and treated when they become unwell as a result of their cancer or anticancer treatment.

The CUC Administrator will be responsible for providing clerical support for the unit, in addition to coordinating patient activity and certain elective treatment pathways.

The Administrator must maintain a high level of communication with the nursing, medical, allied healthcare professionals, and administrative teams, as well as Royal Marsden (RM) patients and their families.

The role is demanding and requires an individual with good attention to detail, who is thorough and can robustly deal with any issues. A professional and caring attitude is also essential, and patient confidentiality and dignity must be maintained.

The post holder will work closely with the Team leader and CUC Band 7 Sister / Charge nurse to ensure the unit is run efficiently and smoothly.

• Meeting and greeting patients on arrival to the unit, directing them to the CAU waiting area and acting as a receptionist to all visitors. Orientating visitors to the unit and explaining admission process.
• Answering the telephone and acting as telephone receptionist for the unit. This will include referring the caller to appropriate members of staff or taking messages accurately when necessary.
• Ensure accurate updating of patient demographic details on the Patient Administration System and medical notes and inform registration of updates when required.
• Managing the CUC booking system, for example recording patient’s arrival time, booking patients into clinic appointments on arrival and out of clinic on discharge from the unit. Booking future clinic appointments as directed.
• Ensuring the filing of papers, clinical results and reports to patients’ case notes whilst on the unit and returning all notes to medical records.
• Ensuring all Discharge Summaries have been written to be sent to appropriate recipients.
• Liaising with hospital transport for patients attending the unit, booking emergency transport when required.
