Summary

Pharmacy Assistant

Ipswich Hospital | Pharmacy | Fixed Term Contract | Part time

Up to £22,500 dependent on experience

As a Pharmacy Assistant at our Ipswich Hospital, you'll have obtained a Level 2 qualification in Healthcare and you'll have proven post-qualification experience. It's also important that you have excellent communication and people skills, as you'll be working closely with our patients and a variety of clinical staff.

As our Pharmacy Assistant you will:

  • Manage stock control of medicines and other items within the Pharmacy Department
  • Assist with the procurement of pharmaceutical stock and medical gases for the pharmacy using appropriate electronic systems
  • Receive and check bulk orders of medicines from our wholesalers, dealing with problems that arise in a timely and efficient fashion
  • Deal with invoice queries related to the medicines received
  • Distribute medicines to wards and departments within the hospital to ensure timely and effective patient treatment
  • Assist in the dispensing of medicines within our dispensary, to ensure the timely and safe supply of medicines to patients

The person

To succeed as a Pharmacy Assistant, you will need:

  • Good standard of general education, with proven literacy and numeracy.
  • 4 GCSEs including English, Maths and a Science or equivalent.
  • Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills (or GPhC recognised equivalent qualification), or a willingness to work towards this qualification which would be commenced in the workplace within 3 months of employment and completed within agreed timescale
  • Experience of handling goods and stock management
  • IT Skills
  • Good communication and team-working skills
  • Previous pharmacy or healthcare experience is advantageous but not essential for this role.
